The European Union has issued a statement demanding full accountability and effective measures to prevent continued acts of violence and violent harassment against Palestinians, specifically citing risks during the ongoing olive harvest season, as well as against journalists covering the situation. The EU's comments, made on a Sunday statement, add to international pressure on Israel over settler violence and treatment of media workers in the occupied territories.
Why now: Ongoing violence against Palestinians during the olive harvest and harassment of journalists has prompted a strong EU statement, drawing attention to international calls for accountability.
