Meta's Instagram took down the No Kings account, prompting criticism from commentators including historian Heather Cox Richardson, who discussed the removal in her newsletter. The takedown comes amid early voting in the 2026 US elections, and critics see it as part of broader concerns about platform moderation affecting political organizing around the No Kings movement.
Why now: The removal of a prominent political movement's account during US midterm early voting raises concerns about censorship and election-period moderation.
