Rajoy backs Feijóo: 'We must be active'

Original: mariano rajoy

Former Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy has publicly commented on the current political situation of Alberto Núñez Feijóo, leader of the Popular Party. Speaking to El Independiente, Rajoy said Feijóo has what he needs but stressed that the party must 'be active' and rely on itself. The remarks are being read as renewed support from the veteran politician for Feijóo's leadership at a delicate moment for the PP.

Why now: Rajoy rarely speaks publicly, so his comments on Feijóo's leadership draw attention in Spanish politics.
