France 24 says India at standstill amid protests
Original: . @FRANCE24 TV: “India has come to standstill with protests.” Meanwhile, France right now:
France 24 reported that India has come to a standstill amid ongoing protests. The remark is drawing attention in India, where viewers are questioning the characterisation and pointing to the channel's own country, France, which has seen repeated large-scale protest disruptions of its own. The comparison has fuelled debate over how international media frames unrest in India versus Europe.
Why now: The claim of a national standstill is seen as exaggerated, prompting criticism and comparisons with protest disruption in France itself.
