The Cleveland Guardians are pairing pitcher Parker Messick with catcher Patrick Bailey for Game 5 of the ALCS, moving Bailey into the lineup to keep his bat in the order during a crucial elimination game. Messick and Austin Hedges have typically worked as a package deal, but Cleveland is prioritizing offense with the series on the line in what could be a pivotal matchup.

Why now: The Guardians are making a notable lineup gamble ahead of a decisive ALCS Game 5, prioritizing a hot hitter over an established battery.
