Ben Simmons, 30, has torn his Achilles tendon and is expected to miss the entire 2026-27 NBA season. The injury is a major setback for the Sacramento Kings, who signed the former All-Star to a one-year deal last month after he sat out all of last season. The news ends Simmons' comeback attempt before it could begin.

Why now: A high-profile former All-Star suffered a serious injury shortly after signing with a new team, ending his season before it started.
