Jonny DeLuca draws RBI walk after ABS challenge
Original: Jonny DeLuca's RBI walk after ABS challenge
Rays outfielder Jonny DeLuca came up with an RBI the unusual way: a walk that followed an automated ball-strike (ABS) challenge. The challenge overturned the call on what would have been ball four, and DeLuca went on to draw the walk that forced in a run. It is one of the early notable moments involving baseball's new robot umpire challenge system.
Why now: The ABS challenge system is new in Major League Baseball, so plays that turn on a challenged call are drawing attention.
