At least three children have died in Indonesia after being trapped by thick smoke from forest and land fires. The deaths have sparked anger online, with people accusing the government of ignoring the crisis and downplaying the severity of the haze. Parents report children, including toddlers, suffering acute respiratory infections and struggling to breathe, and are urging authorities not to dismiss the smoke as harmless.

Why now: Fresh child deaths from the smoke have reignited public anger at the government's handling of the annual fire and haze crisis.
