ASEAN Foundation Holds Model East Asia Summit on Treaty of Amity
Original: ASEAN Foundation Model East Asia Summit: Treaty of Amity and Cooperation
The ASEAN Foundation is organising a Model East Asia Summit centred on the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation, the region's foundational non-aggression pact. The simulation gives participants a chance to role-play diplomatic negotiations among East Asian leaders, debating commitments to peaceful dispute settlement and regional cooperation in the spirit of the treaty signed in 1976.
Why now: The treaty remains a touchstone of Southeast Asian diplomacy, and model summits draw interest from students and organisations focused on regional cooperation.
