An amateur astronomer reports that a newly arrived 2-inch 5x Barlow lens initially could not be used because the telescope's focus tube would not extend far enough for imaging. After adding an extension tube, the setup now works, and the observer says they are pushing the magnification limits of the instrument.
Why now: Amateur astronomers often share equipment upgrades and the practical fixes needed to make new eyepieces or lenses work with their telescopes.
