Original: Remembering When One of the Biggest Movie Hits of the 80s Got Turned Down by Everyone, Including the Band That Finally Recorded It in 1985

The song became a number-one hit in the United States and one of the defining tracks of the decade, despite the band initially doubting it would suit their style or boost their career.
Why now: Nostalgia pieces about unlikely 80s hits circulate widely whenever the film or the song returns to public attention.
