Texas Senate race framed as referendum on Trump, listeners say
Original: Affordability, immigration and a referendum on Trump: Listeners weigh in on the U.S. Senate race in Texas
Houston Public Media asked listeners to weigh in on the U.S. Senate race in Texas, and the responses centered on three themes: affordability, immigration, and whether the contest amounts to a referendum on President Trump. The comments suggest voters are connecting the Senate contest to national political tensions as well as pocketbook issues at home.
Why now: Ongoing campaign debate over Texas's Senate seat has voters tying it to Trump's national standing and cost-of-living concerns.
