Minidoka symposium links Japanese-American incarceration to immigration debate

Original: Friends of Minidoka symposium connects Japanese-American incarceration to immigration debate

Friends of Minidoka held a symposium drawing connections between the World War II incarceration of Japanese Americans and today's immigration debates. Speakers and attendees discussed the parallels between past detention policies and current rhetoric and policy at the US-Mexico border, using the history of the Minidoka camp in Idaho as a cautionary lesson. Outlets in Idaho and Washington state covered the event.

Why now: Immigration is a prominent current political issue, and the event explicitly framed it against the historical injustice of Japanese-American incarceration.
