The World Food Programme is reducing essential food assistance for 500,000 Palestinians in Gaza, citing critical funding shortages. The UN agency says more than two-thirds of the territory's population already faces acute hunger, and the cuts will deepen the crisis as humanitarian needs keep rising. Observers warn the shortfall reflects growing gaps between donor pledges and actual contributions to relief operations.

Why now: The scale of the aid cuts to a population already facing hunger has sparked alarm and calls for urgent donor funding.
