Original: 8 in 10 Americans oppose live-streaming execution
A new Washington Post-reported poll shows roughly 80 percent of Americans oppose broadcasting executions live on television or the internet. The finding comes as attention turns to the death penalty case of the Fort Hood shooter, whose scheduled execution has reignited debate over how capital punishment should be carried out and whether the public should be allowed to watch it in real time.
Why now: Debate over the Fort Hood shooter's execution has prompted fresh polling on whether executions should be broadcast publicly.
