Submarines in Focus: New French Nuclear Vessel Draws Attention
Original: u-boot
French naval developments are driving renewed interest in submarines. France's newest underwater vessel measures 99.5 metres and displaces 5,300 tonnes, while Naval Group has reached a milestone with the nuclear attack submarine Rubis. In Germany, attention also turned to the rare sight of a submarine appearing off Cuxhaven, and Australia is equipping underwater drones for attacks launched from the air.
Why now: Fresh reports on French submarine programs and an unusual submarine sighting off Cuxhaven have sparked interest in naval underwater technology.
