German police in Cologne have seized a roughly 1.20-metre Unitree robot for the first time, after it was reportedly used in an assault on a teenager. Two adolescents have been arrested. Commentators are questioning whether the machine was remote-piloted or operating autonomously, noting that the law judges who controls it, not the object itself.
Why now: It is reportedly the first time police have seized a robot as evidence in an assault case, raising unresolved legal questions about machine control and liability.
