Benny Gantz, former defense minister and leader of the Blue and White party, has withdrawn from Israel's electoral race just eight days before voters go to the polls. The surprise exit came as opinion polls showed Blue and White with weak results. Commentators say the move shakes up a decisive campaign and could benefit Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's chances of forming a governing coalition in the Knesset.
