New Jewel Wasp Species Discovered in China
Original: New Jewel of Chinese Insect Life Sheds Light on a Beetle-Killing Parasitoid’s Journey
Scientists have described a newly identified jewel wasp from China, a parasitoid insect that kills beetles by laying its eggs on them. The discovery offers fresh insight into how these beetle-killing parasitoids spread and evolve, and highlights how much of China's insect diversity remains undocumented. Researchers say such finds can inform biological pest control.
Why now: A newly described parasitoid wasp species is of interest to entomologists and could matter for biological pest control.
