Langer says Sandpapergate trio took the fall for cricket
Original: Sandpapergate trio David Warner, Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft took the fall for cricketers worldwide, claims Justin Langer
Former Australia coach Justin Langer has claimed David Warner, Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft were made scapegoats for ball-tampering practices that were widespread among cricketers worldwide. The 2018 Sandpapergate scandal in South Africa led to bans for the three players, and Langer's remarks renew debate over how much blame they should have carried.
Why now: Langer's suggestion that ball-tampering was widespread reopens a defining Australian cricket scandal.
