Original: A proposed golf course at WA state park divides recreationists
A proposal to build a golf course at a Washington state park is splitting the outdoor recreation community, according to the Seattle Times. Supporters see it as expanded access and a new way to draw people outdoors, while critics argue it would commercialize public land and displace hiking, wildlife habitat, and other traditional park uses.
Why now: The proposal has sparked a local debate over how public parkland should be used.
