Original: Governments urged to turn wildlife commitments into action at biodiversity COP17
The International Fund for Animal Welfare is urging governments attending the UN biodiversity conference, COP17, to convert their wildlife protection commitments into concrete action. The conservation group says pledges made under global biodiversity frameworks must now be matched by implementation on the ground, as species and habitats continue to decline worldwide.
Why now: The biodiversity COP17 summit is underway, drawing attention to whether governments will deliver on past wildlife commitments.
