Italy's past seems to echo in its troubled present
Original: Ci sono momenti in cui il passato sembra smettere di essere passato e torna a riflettersi drammaticamente nel presente.
An Italian commentary argues there are moments when the past stops being past and dramatically mirrors the present. It points to how many people today still struggle to make it to the end of the month, find dignified work and secure a future, suggesting that old social hardships have returned to contemporary Italy.
Why now: Rising economic hardship and precarity in Italy are prompting comparisons with historical struggles.
