Doug Jones rebukes Tuberville's communism claim about north Alabama
Original: Doug Jones says Tuberville’s communism claim insults north Alabama: ‘Makes no sense’
Former Alabama senator Doug Jones criticised Senator Tommy Tuberville for a claim linking north Alabama to communism, calling the remark an insult to the region and saying it 'makes no sense'. Jones, a Democrat, pushed back publicly against Tuberville's characterisation, saying it disrespects the communities and workers of north Alabama.
Why now: A former senator publicly clashing with a sitting senator over a provocative political claim draws attention.
