Austrian public broadcaster ORF plans to save just over 30 million euros by 2027, a move Austrian media describe as its 'fateful years'. The cost-cutting programme comes amid financial pressure on the broadcaster and debate over its funding, with the savings expected to affect its operations in the coming years.

Why now: ORF's cost-cutting plan touches the ongoing public debate about the future and financing of Austria's public broadcaster.
