Original: BBC subpoenas Jack Smith
The BBC has issued a subpoena to Jack Smith, the former US special counsel who led the federal investigations into Donald Trump. The move has drawn widespread attention, with commenters debating what information the broadcaster is seeking and why it is targeting the prosecutor behind the classified documents and election interference cases. Details of the subpoena's purpose remain limited.
Why now: People are reacting to the unusual step of a major broadcaster legally compelling testimony or records from a former US special counsel.
