Four major European mobile operators plan joint satellite network
Original: Fyra av Europas största mobiloperatörer vill bygga ett gemensamt satellitnät som kan ge mobiltäckning direkt från rymden
Four of Europe's largest mobile operators are planning to build a shared satellite network that would provide mobile coverage directly from space, aiming to reach areas without ground infrastructure. A stated goal of the initiative is to reduce European dependence on services like Elon Musk's Starlink. The plan is being discussed as a step toward greater European strategic independence in telecommunications.
Why now: The push for European technological independence from US-owned satellite services like Starlink is a topical concern.
