Building an ad-free Android TV
Original: An ad-free Android TV
A developer has documented a project to strip advertising out of the Android TV experience, replacing stock components so the interface runs without sponsored content or promotional tiles. The write-up is drawing wide attention among technologists, many of whom complain that smart TV platforms have become cluttered with ads and are discussing whether similar setups could work on their own devices.
Why now: Frustration with ads creeping into smart TV interfaces is widespread, so a practical guide to removing them is resonating.
