Trump claims he is leading a revival of Christianity
Original: Trump's claim about leading Christianity
Donald Trump has repeated his assertion that he is leading Christianity in the United States, presenting himself as a champion of religious voters and defending his record on issues important to faith communities. Critics have seized on the claim, questioning how it fits with his personal history and arguing it is an attempt to consolidate evangelical support ahead of the election.
Why now: Trump's self-positioning as a leader of Christianity is provoking debate among supporters and critics in the run-up to the election.
