Ukrainian drone flies wounded soldier from front line
Ukraine has airlifted a wounded soldier from the front line using an unmanned drone, in what is reported to be a world first. The evacuation avoided the risks of sending a crewed helicopter or vehicle into range of Russian fire. Commenters are calling it a striking example of how battlefield medicine is being reshaped by drone technology, with discussion focused on whether such evacuations could become routine for injured troops.
Why now: Reports of the first-ever drone evacuation of a wounded soldier have drawn attention to rapidly evolving military drone use.
