Fake policeman tricks elderly man out of cash and bank card

Original: polizeidirektion hannover

Police in the Hanover region are warning about scammers posing as officers after an elderly man in eastern Hesse was tricked into handing over money and his bank card. The man was approached by a fake policeman, a tactic fraudsters repeatedly use against senior citizens. Police urge residents never to give money or cards to strangers claiming to be officers and to call the real police to verify.

Why now: A new case of the fake-policeman scam targeting seniors has prompted warnings from police.
