Developers are discussing MicroG, a free and open-source re-implementation of Google's proprietary Android user space, including components like Play Services. The project, hosted on GitHub as GmsCore, lets users run Android apps that normally depend on Google's closed libraries without them, appealing to those seeking privacy, de-Googled phones, or fully open Android systems.
