U.S. Army Maritime Strike Unit Fires Tomahawk Missile
Original: U.S. Army Anti-A2/AD, Maritime Strike Unit Fires Tomahawk Missile
A U.S. Army unit dedicated to anti-access/area denial (A2/AD) countermeasures and maritime strike has conducted a Tomahawk missile launch, according to Naval News. The test demonstrates the Army's expanding role in long-range anti-ship strike, traditionally a Navy and Air Force domain. Observers are watching how the Army's mid-range capabilities fit into Indo-Pacific planning.
Why now: The Army's growing role in long-range maritime strike reflects heightened tensions with China and a shifting division of labor among U.S. military services.
