Where Are All the Comedy Movies?
A student newspaper piece asks why new comedy films have become scarce, arguing that theatrical comedies have largely disappeared as studios favour franchises and streamers shift to reality and drama content. The author laments that the genre that once reliably filled cinemas now rarely gets wide releases, and calls on studios to take comedic storytelling seriously again.
Why now: Ongoing debate about the decline of theatrical comedy releases as studios prioritise blockbusters and streaming.
