Original: 🏳️🌈 Nebraska court rules voters can decide whether to cement an anti-trans sports ban in state constitution https://www
A Nebraska court has ruled that voters can decide whether to enshrine the state's ban on transgender athletes in school sports into the state constitution. The decision clears the way for the measure to appear on a statewide ballot. LGBTQ rights advocates are watching closely, as a constitutional amendment would make the ban far harder to reverse than ordinary legislation.
Why now: The ruling moves a contentious transgender rights fight to Nebraska voters, drawing attention from LGBTQ rights supporters and opponents.
