Lost street photography archive of John Baer unveiled
Original: ‘Unguarded moments’: a lost archive of street photography – in pictures By Briana Ellis-Gibbs Little-known photographer
The Guardian has published a picture feature on John Baer, a little-known street photographer who captured everyday life before putting down his camera in 1954. His son discovered the images decades later after Baer's death, revealing a 'lost archive' of unguarded urban moments now being shown to the public for the first time.
Why now: The newly rediscovered archive offers a fresh glimpse of mid-century everyday life through an unknown photographer's eyes.
