Quantum computing milestone brings 'megaquops' era closer
Original: A quantum computing feat brings the ‘megaquops’ era a step closer
Researchers report a quantum computing achievement described as a step toward the 'megaquops' era, a threshold referring to quantum computers performing computations with around a million reliable operations. The result is being covered by science outlets as a marker of progress in building larger, more stable quantum machines, though technical details of the feat remain limited in early reporting.
Why now: Science media are highlighting a claimed milestone in the race toward large-scale, reliable quantum computing.
