Harris County smashes midterm first-day early voting record
Original: Harris County crushes midterm first-day early voter turnout record
Harris County, which includes Houston, broke its record for first-day early voting turnout in a midterm election, with unusually long lines reported across polling locations. The surge suggests exceptionally strong voter interest in Texas's midterm contests, and observers point to hotly contested statewide races and heightened political engagement as likely drivers of the record turnout.
Why now: Record first-day midterm turnout signals unusually high voter engagement ahead of the US midterm elections.
