Flathead Valley Businesses Report Flat Summer Tourism
Original: Businesses Report Flat Summer Tourism Despite Inflation, Smoke and Airport Runway Closure
Businesses in Montana's Flathead Valley say summer tourism stayed flat this season, despite headwinds including inflation, wildfire smoke and a runway closure at Glacier Park International Airport. Merchants and hospitality operators had braced for a sharper downturn, and steady visitor numbers are being read as a modest relief even as higher costs squeezed margins.
Why now: Local tourism is a key economic driver, so a flat season despite major disruptions is notable news for the region.
