Iran refuses to send enriched nuclear material abroad
Original: Iran rules out transferring enriched nuclear material abroad amid US tensions
Iran has ruled out transferring its enriched nuclear material to other countries, a position announced as tensions with the United States continue. The decision affects ongoing discussions over the future of Iran's nuclear programme, which have centered on where enriched uranium would be stockpiled and monitored. Officials in Tehran frame the move as a defense of national sovereignty, while the development is being closely watched by regional and international observers.
Why now: Iran's refusal comes at a moment of heightened US-Iran tensions and stalled nuclear diplomacy.
