SandFly 0.1.3, a free screen reader for Android, has been released. The software is a fork of Backtalk, which itself forked Google's TalkBack, and runs on phones and tablets with Android 8 or later, as well as Wear OS watches and Android TV. It was previously known as Backtalk Aaron, a personal fork of Backtalk, before being renamed.
Why now: The accessibility community is following the continued development of an open-source fork of TalkBack amid interest in independent Android screen readers.
