Navy Quadruples Gecko Robotics Contract for Ship Inspections
Original: Navy Quadruples Gecko Robotics Contract Ceiling For Ship Robot Scanning
The US Navy has raised the contract ceiling with Gecko Robotics for ship-hull scanning to roughly four times its previous level, expanding the use of wall-climbing robots that inspect naval vessels for damage and corrosion. The move signals growing reliance on robotic inspection to speed maintenance and keep more ships deployment-ready.
Why now: The scale-up reflects the Navy's push to speed ship maintenance with robotics amid fleet readiness concerns.
