EA Sports FC 27 lands PEGI 16 rating over loot boxes
Original: EA Sports FC 27 gets a PEGI 16 rating in Europe because of loot boxes Still rated E for Everyone by the ESRB, though. ht
EA Sports FC 27 has received a PEGI 16 rating in Europe, with the age restriction attributed to the game's loot boxes. The contrast is drawing attention because the game remains rated E for Everyone by the ESRB in North America, highlighting a continued transatlantic split over how gambling-like mechanics in games are regulated.
Why now: The diverging PEGI and ESRB ratings fuel ongoing debate about loot boxes and gambling-like mechanics in games.
