Carl Bildt skips Shangri-La Dialogue for Tallinn cybersecurity event
Original: Sorry to miss #SLD17 and Singapore this year. Always interesting. But priority Tallinn, cybersecurity and @theGCSC . htt
Former Swedish prime minister and foreign minister Carl Bildt says he will miss this year's Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, calling it always interesting, but is prioritising Tallinn instead. He is heading to Estonia for cybersecurity matters connected with the Global Commission on the Stability of Cyberspace. His comment comes as North Korea dominates the agenda at the Singapore summit.
Why now: A prominent European statesman publicly chose a cybersecurity gathering over Asia's main security summit, where North Korea is a hot topic.
