Original: AfD's Alice Weidel to unveil plan to cut EU powers — report

Alice Weidel, co-leader of Germany's Alternative for Germany (AfD), is set to present a plan proposing a reduction of European Union powers, according to a report by Deutsche Welle. The proposal signals the party's continued push for scaling back EU authority over member states, a long-standing AfD position ahead of upcoming political debates in Germany and Brussels.

Why now: The AfD is a prominent and controversial force in German and EU politics, so any proposal to weaken the EU draws wide attention.
