Original: Lunar Maps # moonmaps # lunarmaps # moon # science # astronomy # astrophotography # smartphoneastronomy
Stargazers are posting handmade and photographed lunar maps, charting craters and maria on the Moon using telescopes and even smartphones. The trend fits into the wider smartphone astronomy community, where hobbyists capture detailed images of the lunar surface with modest equipment and share them to help others identify features on the Moon.
Why now: Amateur astronomy communities are actively sharing astrophotography and Moon mapping as a popular low-cost hobby.
