Anthropic's Claude Code coding assistant is drawing an unusual comparison to a gym spotter: it will not lift the weight for you, but having it close by lets developers push through that final rep on difficult problems. The analogy comes with a warning, though. Repeating the same fix over and over with the tool is not pushing yourself, it is just forcing the code, and developers are being urged to know when to step back.
