Spotify to verify users of Family plans with QR codes

Original: spotify plan familiar

Spotify is tightening controls on its Family plan in Mexico, asking some members who share an account to verify their access by scanning a QR code. Outlets including Excélsior and Merca2.0 report the move is aimed at confirming that everyone on a plan lives at the same address, as the company seeks to curb sharing between households.

Why now: Spotify has started enforcing QR verification on Family plans, raising concerns among users who share accounts outside their household.
