UN says world must cut emissions 18% in four years
Original: World must cut emissions by 18% in four years ‘to find our way back’, UN says
The UN's environment body says global greenhouse gas emissions must fall by 18% within four years to get back on track for climate targets and avoid a disastrous overshoot of the goals set under the Paris Agreement. The warning underscores how far current national pledges fall short of what scientists say is needed, and is drawing wide attention across international media and climate policy circles.
Why now: The UN has issued a stark new warning about the shrinking window to meet global climate targets.
