Original: This Norwegian village is one of the fastest-warming places on Earth. How can its people save it? https://www. theguardi
A Guardian report examines Longyearbyen, in Norway's Svalbard archipelago, which is warming faster than almost anywhere else on the planet as melting glaciers and thawing permafrost threaten homes and infrastructure. The piece asks how residents can adapt or preserve their community in the face of rapid climate heating driven by greenhouse gas emissions.
Why now: Climate change coverage showing a dramatic, concrete example of extreme Arctic warming is resonating with readers.
